With these tips you can make an orchid bloom again! Did you know that the Phalaenopsis orchid can bloom for about three to six months? When it has finished flowering, you do not have to throw it away. With some extra love and attention, your orchid can bloom several times a year. Follow our step-by-step plan and realize a second life for your orchid! Prune the orchid If the orchid has finished flowering for the first time, cut off the branch above the second eye (thickening) of the branch. Time for cooling To ensure that new buds form, the plant must be put away a bit drier (approx. 15 - 20 °C). In a warm room, the plant can also develop buds, but less well. And now .. rest Let the plant stand for about one to two months and water it sparingly during this period. One to a maximum of two times the normal weekly amount (3 ice cubes). Time to return When the first development starts, you can put the orchid back in the (warm) living room. Now go back to normal watering (preferably) in combination with some food. The second life of your orchid has begun It will take about 100 days, from the cutting off of the branches, to get the orchid back in bloom.
