What a stunner, the beautiful Phoenix Roebelenii of 160cm. Originally from the tropics of South-East Asia, it will look great in your home! The Phoenix Roebelenii is also known as the Dwarf Date Palm, but it’s actually not that small. With a delivered length of 160cm it will certainly stand out.
The Phoenix Roebelenii belongs to the Araceae family and has the nickname Dwarf Date Palm because it is one of the smaller ones of its kind. In the wild the palms can grow to great heights. The Phoenix Roebelenii has a beautiful palm tree trunk with graceful leaves which immediately create a tropical effect. The palm can be placed indoors or outdoors, as long as it can enjoy the sunshine. You do need to have a high ceiling, otherwise after a while it will come to peek at the second floor.
The Phoenix Roebelenii needs to get enough water in the summer, as it is a thirsty type of plant. If you are placing the Phoenix Roebelenii indoors, make sure that it is close to a window so that it receives enough sunlight. The palm will not produce new leaves if it gets too little sunlight. If you give it a nice spot in the garden, make sure that it gets plenty of sunshine. The Phoenix Roebelenii may be watered 2 to 3 times a week, the soil should always be slightly moist. In summer it should be almost watered every day, due to the heat and the amount of water used.
As mentioned earlier, the Phoenix Roebelenii requires sufficient watering: 2 to 3 times a week. On hot summer days you may even water your palm every day. Make sure that the water does not collect at the bottom of the pot. This can cause root rot and the end of the plant. We advise you to keep a close eye on the soil. If the soil is still very wet from the previous watering, it is better to wait a while. If the soil is already bone-dry after a couple of days, you can adjust the amount of water by giving a little more at a time. Make sure when you have the Phoenix Roebelenii outside that there are enough holes in the bottom of the pot. That way, excess water, such as rainwater, can drain away without accumulating at the bottom of the pot.
The Phoenix Roebelenii loves light and needs plenty of daylight to remain beautiful.
At first the leaves may need some getting used to its new location, but then the palm will adapt well. If the Phoenix Roebelenii receives too little daylight, new leaves will not grow. So it is important that the palm gets enough light to remain beautiful and healthy.
The Phoenix Roebelenii is not a poisonous palm, but the sharp spines on its tribe make it not particularly child friendly.
