    De Areca Palm

In addition, the Areca Palm is not a difficult houseplant in terms of care. Place the Areca Palm in the right place and make sure that its soil always remains slightly moist. This way, the Areca Palm will quickly be satisfied and do its best to stand out.

    The Areca Palm prefers to be in a light place but without too much direct sunlight. As with the Kentia Palms, you would expect the Areca Palm to love a little sun due to its tropical background, but nothing could be further from the truth. The Areca palm prefers not to stand in the bright sunlight. Here his leaves can turn brown and dry. This can quickly lead to a less beautiful effect. Place the Areca Palm in a place in normal daylight, preferably a few meters from the window. Incidentally, the Areca palm also does well in a place with occasional shade.

    Water


    Make sure that the soil of your Areca Palm always remains slightly moist. Make sure you do not give too much water. This can cause the water to accumulate at the roots of your Areca Palm and this can cause root rot. Root rot is difficult to remedy, you can better prevent it. You can best measure the humidity of your Areca Palm by feeling a little deeper into the earth with the fingers. If the soil here is already very dry after a few days, then it is time for a new watering. Is the soil of your Areca Palm still moist from last time? Then you better wait a while. If you decide  to repot the Areca Palm, it is better to measure the water with a special humidity meter. This is because the water you give sinks directly to the bottom, and here you can not feel so easily with the fingers.

    Our tip: After delivery of the Areca Palm, take a good look at the humidity of the soil for a few days. This way you can estimate a bit how quickly he processes the water and after how many days it is time for a new watering.

    Discoloration of the leaves

    With time, the leaves of the Areca Palm can discolor. Brown leaves can be somewhat older leaves, but can also indicate dryness due to too much sunlight. Therefore, make sure that the Areca Palm is never in too much direct sunlight. Yellow leaves can be a sign of an excess of water. In this case, take a good look at the potting soil of the Areca Palm to see if this goes well.

    Repotting the Areca Palm

    We recommend  repotting the Areca Palm every two years. The Areca Palm does not have to be repotted immediately upon delivery  . The Areca Palm can remain in the cultivation pot for another two years so that its roots can become a bit bigger and stronger. If you decide  to repot the Areca Palm, this must be done in the right way. Use a waterproof inner cover in the decorative pot, filling castrat and a humidity meter.
