Philodendron Verrucosum originates from the jungles of South America. Here, the plant spreads out over the ground until it finds a tree and climbs it. This houseplant can therefore grow to a considerable height in the wild. Did you know that the name Philodendron is derived from two Greek words? Namely, philo (love) and dendron (tree), a real love tree. And certainly also a very popular houseplant because this Philodendron Verrucosum is a very popular houseplant! This houseplant not only has beautiful leaves that seem to turn golden in the light, it also has a very air-purifying effect.
This houseplant is easy to care for and grows reasonably quickly. Don't worry, however, your Philodendron Verrucosum will not grow to tree height. The Philodendron Verrucosum would also do well as a hanging plant in your urban jungle. It is a very versatile plant that actually requires little attention. However, the Philodendron Verrucosum does like to be sprinkled occasionally. Because of its tropical origins, it likes a slightly damp environment. Watering also removes dust from the plant so that it can breathe better, and this has a preventive effect against pests and other diseases. When the leaf ends turn brown, this is a sign of a too dry environment. In this case, water the Philodendron Verrucosum more often.
Water the Philodendron Verrucosum once every 4 to 5 days. This houseplant likes a slightly wet and humid soil, but it should never stay wet for too long. Therefore, in the beginning you should check how much water you give your Philodendron Verrucosum. If the soil still feels damp after 6 to 7 days, you can give the houseplant less water next time. A soil that is too wet is not good for the Philodendron Verrucosum, as it can cause root rot.
The Philodendron Verrucosum can easily be placed in a spot with some shade, which makes it ideal for a dark corner of your house. This houseplant will not be very happy in the full sun. Check what works best for your Philodendron Verrucosum, because this houseplant needs enough daylight to stay healthy. Yellow or brown leaves are a sign of too much or too little light. Is your Philodendron Verrucosum getting new leaves? That is always a good sign!
The Philodendron Verrucosum can be slightly poisonous, so make sure that small children and pets cannot easily reach this houseplant.
