Ficus Elastica Robusta is the well-known Indian rubber tree; until the 20th century, Ficus Elastica Robusta was an important source of rubber. Elastica Robusta is a member of the Ficus family and has more than 1000 different species that you cannot immediately tell belong to the same family. Most Ficus species are indigenous to tropical Asia.

Ficus Elastica Robusta has deep dark red leaves and a red plume at the top of the plant. Many people think that this is the flower of Ficus, but that is not true. Ficus develops its leaves from this plume.

Ficus Elastica Robusta is not a difficult houseplant to look after. However, this houseplant is sensitive to new environments. If Ficus Elastica Robusta grows to one side, do not move the plant all at once but turn it a little bit every day. In case of major changes, the plant may drop its leaves. Spraying will benefit the leaves of Ficus. Dust and possible vermin will not get a chance this way.
