Care & tips Ficus and Monstera

Ficus and Monstera are not difficult houseplants to look after. Should Ficus grow to one side, do not move the plant all at once but turn it a little bit every day. Changes can cause the plant to drop its leaves. Spraying will benefit the Ficus leaves. Dust and possible vermin will not get a chance this way.

Ficus and Monstera need water

You should always try to keep the soil of these houseplants slightly moist. In the beginning, give the plants small amounts of water several times. After a while, you will know approximately how much water the plants need. The amount of water also depends on the location. If the houseplant is in a light place, it will need more water. This applies especially to Ficus.

Light requirements for Ficus and Monstera

Ficus likes the sun and is therefore best placed in a light spot close to a window. This houseplant really needs the sunlight to develop. If Ficus stands in a place that is too dark, no new leaves will grow. Be careful during the summer months, when the direct sunlight can become too intense. Before this period, move the plant to a place with fewer hours of sunlight per day.

The Monstera, on the other hand, prefers a spot in normal daylight with even some shade during the day. Direct sunlight can even burn the leaves of this cool hole plant, so make sure the plant is not placed in a spot that is too light.

Are Ficus and Monstera poisonous?

The leaves of Ficus are poisonous to pets and children. Ingestion of the plant is strongly advised against. The juice of the plant can cause skin irritations. So be careful with this plant when you have children or pets. The Monstera is also not animal friendly and slightly poisonous when ingested.

How will my Ficus and Monstera be delivered?

These two top plants are delivered in a cultivation pot. All our houseplants are sent in specially designed boxes. The unique interior of the boxes ensures that the houseplants are firmly positioned in the box and cannot move around. Houseplants don't mind being in a dark box for a day. This way, we make sure that your green friends are delivered to your home in tip-top shape.
