Care & tips Monstera and Strelitzia

Monstera and Strelitzia are not difficult houseplants to look after. However, make sure you are aware of the right care and location. For example, the Monstera prefers normal daylight with some shade and the Strelitzia prefers full sun.

Water requirements for Monstera and Strelitzia

You should always try to keep the soil of these houseplants slightly moist. In the beginning, give the plants small amounts of water several times. After a while, you will know approximately how much water the plants need. The amount of water also depends on the location. If the houseplant is in a light location, it will need more water. This applies especially to the Strelitzia.

Light requirements for Monstera and Strelitzia

The Strelitzia loves the sun and is therefore best placed in a bright spot close to a window. This houseplant really needs sunlight to develop. If the Strelitzia is placed in a spot that is too dark, no new leaves will grow. Make sure that the plant does get enough water, especially on hot days when the sun shines full on the leaves.

The Monstera, on the other hand, prefers a spot in normal daylight with even some shade during the day. Direct sunlight can even burn the leaves of this cool hole plant, so make sure the plant is not placed in a spot that is too light.

Are Monstera and Strelitzia poisonous?

Unfortunately, both plants are poisonous if ingested and are therefore not animal or child friendly.
