The Caryota Mitis originates from Southeast Asia, but nowadays this palm can be found in almost all tropical environments. In the wild, Caryota Mitis can grow up to 12 metres tall! Fortunately, due to its slow growth, this will not happen so quickly in your living room. A funny nickname for this plant is the fishtail palm. It owes this to its somewhat unusual leaves, which resemble the tail of a fish.

The Fishtail palm likes plenty of water. Make sure the soil is always moist, but not too wet. Watering the leaves will benefit the plant. Especially in winter when the air is drier, it likes this. After all, the Fishtail palm is a tropical plant.

In summer, you can water the plant once every five days, but in winter this is considerably less and once every ten days is sufficient.
