    Product description

What a picture, the Calathea Picturata. With its dark green edges and light green interior, it really steals the show in your home. The Calathea Picturata is a member of the Marantaceae family. This family grows mainly in the tropical rainforests of South America, including Brazil. Here the Calathea grows in the shade of taller plants and trees, hence its nickname, the 'shade plant'.

The leaves of the Calathea Picurata consist of 3 colours. The light green inside, the dark green edges and a burgundy coloured underside that appears when the plant folds itself shut. The Calathea is known for the fact that it points its leaves upwards at night. Because this reminds one of a praying hand, the Calathea is also known as the 'prayer plant'.

    Care & tips Calathea Picturata - 55cm

The Calathea Picturata is not a difficult plant to take care of. However, you do need to know how to take care of it correctly so that you can enjoy your plant for a long time. Place the Calathea in the right location and pay attention to the amount of water and the Calathea Picturata will soon do well in your home.

Water requirements Calathea Picturata - 55cm

You may always keep the soil of the Calathea Picturata slightly moist. Make sure that you do not over-water the plant. Too much water can cause it to accumulate at the bottom of the pot near the roots, which can cause root rot. Root rot can cause your Calathea to die, and that is a shame.

We advise you to feel deep into the soil with two fingers before every watering to determine whether the Calathea needs some water again. If it is dry, the plant can be watered. If the soil is still wet from the previous watering, we advise you to wait with watering. We also recommend watering the plant once a week to keep the air humidity high.

Light requirements Calathea Picturata - 55cm

Because the Calathea Picturata grows up in the tropics in the shade of taller plants and trees, it cannot tolerate direct sunlight. The Calathea Picturata should therefore be placed in a shady spot to stay at its best. The plant can also survive well in normal daylight, but make sure that the Calathea does not catch too much light. When the Calathea is placed in too much light, it will show this by curling its leaves.

Is the Calathea Picturata - 55cm poisonous?

No, like most Calathea species, the Calathea Picturata is not poisonous to children or pets.

How will my Calathea Picturata be delivered?
