    The summery, lush Strelitzia Nicolai can't wait to join its buddy the Calathea Leopardina in your home. The Strelitzia, also known for its tears and bumps in the leaves, prefers a sunny spot, while the Calathea prefers a shady spot.

    Care & tips Strelitzia Nicolai and Calathea Leopardina

    Caring for these easy houseplants is not very complicated. Water the Strelitzia and the Calathea weekly and you will be able to enjoy them for a long time. Watering the leaves of the Strelitzia weekly will do the plant good.

    Water requirements for Strelitzia Nicolai and Calathea Leopardina

    The plants in this combination deal like to be given a little water every week and to be sprinkled occasionally. Beforehand, feel the soil with your fingers to see whether it is dry or wet. If it is still wet from the previous watering, then it is better to wait a little before watering again.

    Light requirements for Strelitzia and Calathea

    The Strelitzia Nicolai, also known as the Bird of Paradise plant, loves being in as much sunlight as possible. The plant comes from the tropics where the sun shines brightly! So give this green houseplant a nice spot near a window. The Calathea has other needs as well. The Calathea is also known as a 'shadow plant' and, as its name suggests, prefers a place in the shade. Try to avoid direct sunlight, which can even burn the Calathea! 

    Are my Strelitzia and Calathea poisonous?

    The Strelitzia Nicolai is a slightly poisonous houseplant. Ingesting its leaves can cause health problems in children and pets. The Calathea is not known as a poisonous plant.
