Product description

The Alocasia Wentii originates from Southeast Asia. The cool houseplant has large leaves that can grow up to one metre long in nature. Because of these large leaves, the plant is often used as an umbrella during a tropical storm. The plant owes its nickname 'Elephant Ear' to this. 
Be careful, the Alocasia is a bit more difficult to look after than most plants.

Care & tips Alocasia Wentii - 35cm

The plant originates from a tropical environment and likes it when the air is a bit more humid. To imitate this, it is a good idea to spray the plant regularly. This prevents unwanted visits from aphids on your Elephant ear. The plant may leak some moisture onto the floor, which is called guttation. The plant sweats out excess moisture, as it were. 

Water requirements Alocasia Wentii - 35cm

Because of its origin, the plant is used to plenty of humidity. So make sure the potting soil is always moist but absolutely not wet. Watering once a week is sufficient in the beginning. Check more often if the soil is still moist and add a little water if necessary.

Light requirements Alocasia Wentii - 35cm

The Elephant Ear will become a beautiful, healthy plant when placed in a bright spot without direct sunlight. If the plant grows towards the light, it will not get enough light. In this case, move the plant to a place with more sun. 

Is the Alocasia Wentii - 35cm poisonous?

In Southeast Asia, they incorporate the leaves of the Alocasia Wentii into various dishes. However, this should be done properly as the juice of this plant can cause irritation on the skin. We do not recommend consuming the Alocasia. Take care with small children and pets.
