The leaves of the Aglaonema Silver Queen are green with a unique, light coloured leaf marking, also called 'Variegated'. This is actually a deviation in the plant which means that the leaves produce less leaf green, but it looks great! Give it a nice spot in normal daylight with some shade now and then and the Aglaonema Silver Queen will soon be satisfied. Because it needs little attention, the plant is also very suitable for the office.
Care & tips Aglaonema Silver Queen
The Aglaonema Silver Queen is not a difficult plant to take care of. Make sure the plant is placed in a spot with normal daylight that is also shaded from time to time and the Silver Queen will soon feel at ease. Because of its tropical origin and its way of life here, the plant does not tolerate too much direct sunlight. If there is too much direct sunlight, the stems will grow hard with few leaves or the leaves may burn.
Water the Aglaonema Silver Queen in small doses more often than in one go. This way you prevent the roots from flooding and causing root rot. Root rot can be very harmful to the plant.
Water requirements for Aglaonema Silver Queen
Always try to keep the soil of the Aglaonema Silvergreen slightly moist but beware of too much water. Too much water can cause root rot and this can kill the plant. We recommend to feel with two fingers in the soil to know if it is already time for watering. If the soil is already very dry after two days, you can water your Aglaonema again. If the soil is still very wet after a few days, we advise you to wait a while. It is better for the soil to be a little too dry than too wet.
Light requirements Aglaonema Silver Queen
We recommend placing Aglaonema Silver Queen in a spot in normal daylight that is also shaded during the day. Due to its origins in the tropics and its way of life here, the plant does not tolerate too much sunlight. When there is too much sunlight, the stems will grow hard with few leaves or the leaves may burn. When the plant has a shortage of sunlight, it will show this by hanging its leaves.
In this case, move the Aglaonema Silver Queen to a lighter spot.
Is the Aglaonema Silver Queen poisonous?
Yes, unfortunately the Aglaonema is poisonous. The sap that comes from the stems can cause skin irritation. Keep the plant at a safe distance from children and animals.
